For Consumption is an editorial flip book that imagines an abstraction of the barcode, exploring the act of overwriting raw, organic matter with the highly systematic symbol of consumption. The art of flipping explores the two dimensional page and the book as a sculptural object to bring forth a consideration of the practice of consumerism. The project also explores the book as a place for time based experience, giving a reader ample familiarity with the body of each product.
The acrylic of the book jacket over the fruit skin cover makes sculpture of the work; synthetic material over the skin of fruit, meant to mimic the produce we purchase from convenience stores every week.
